Total Dynamic Productivity Index (TDPI) Maps for Wells Placement Optimization and Reservoir Management Decisions

Description:

Advanced modeling of reservoir productivity is set to play a key role in the development and management of oil and gas fields. To prevent oil price fluctuation and meet increasing world demand, efficient extraction of petroleum resources is becoming a primary focus of production companies. Detailed modeling to determine well placement, characterize reservoirs, and highlight production areas of varying yields is a valuable asset to field optimization.

Reference Number: D-0949

Market Applications:

•       Productivity Software: Oil and Gas Reservoirs

Features, Benefits, and Advantages:

Answering the question of where to place production wells by considering rock and fluid properties with time sensitive reservoir measures can be a challenge. This invention creates a Total Dynamic Productivity Index (TDPI) as a new method to identify sweet spots in oil reservoirs.  TDPI accounts for static and dynamic reservoir measures and can be used in a map form or an input matrix to be utilized to answer Well Placement Problem (WPP).  TDPI success with WPP pronounced significant potential for TDPI to be used as an assessment tool in reservoir management decisions and development plans.

•       Increased reservoir yield

•       Control system efficiency
